What personal data we collect and why we collect it

This site does collect personal information when a user submits one of our website forms.

We keep information submitted through our web forms indefinitely and use it solely for the purpose of contacting you for customer service purposes.

We do not sell any personal information.

If you fill out a contact form, or another form on this site (such as our Donation Request inquiry form, or any of our other service forms) we will collect your name, email address, phone number and other basic contact information and details you provide through the form. We collect this information solely for the purpose of contacting you and fulfilling your request.

Donation Form

Personal information provided to make a donation or fill out an online form will not be sold or shared with anyone other than The Charity and the payment processor to securely process your transaction.

When you make a donation your name, contact information and payment information is collected directly from our payment processor, through a secure donation platform. We do not collect or store your credit card information on this website or our website servers.

This website, like all websites, uses cookies to give users a better experience. Cookies are small pieces of data, stored in text files, that are stored on your computer or other device when websites are loaded in a browser. Cookies may be set by the site that you are visiting (known as “first party cookies”), or by third parties, such as those who serve content or provide analytics services on the website (“third party cookies”).

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

By default WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone.

We use Google Analytics, a third party analytics tool. Please see the section above titled “Analytics” for details about Google Analytics, opt out instructions and links to their privacy practices.

How long we retain your data

We keep contact form entries, donor contact information, volunteer contact information and analytics records indefinitely.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

  • Identifiers (like your name and contact information); such as the information you submitted if you used our contact form. We use this information to contact you at your request.

  • Geolocation data (such as your location based on your IP address); which may be collected through analytics or spam detection tools.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, subject to any exemptions provided by the law, including the right to:

  • Request to know the categories of personal information we collect, the categories of business or commercial purpose for collecting and using it, the categories of sources from which the information came, the categories of third parties we share it with, and the specific pieces of information we collect about you;

  • Opt out of any sale of personal information; and

  • Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights under the CCPA.
