who we are

Santa’s Helpers Foundation's mission is to bring joy to children, while helping to relieve poverty.  We achieve this goal through our programs and services that are designed to alleviate financial burden and promote youth literacy and physical fitness.  Our purpose is to give.

From our founder:

"In 1987, I was five years old, living in a single parent household with my mother and older brother.  During this period of my life, our family was very poor and living on welfare.  My mother had us attend church regularly.

This particular year, I recall my mother being in church and crying to other church members because she was unable to afford Christmas gifts for my brother and I.  My mother explained to us that there would not be any presents this year and she was sorry but there was nothing she could do.  I can vividly recall her being upset.

When Christmas morning came, there was a knock on our door.  When my mom answered it, there was a large pile of wrapped presents sitting on our welcome mat.  My brother and I rushed outside to see who was there, but we found no one.  My brother and I were convinced that Santa Clause had really come to deliver our presents.  Years later, my mom mentioned that she believed it was people from our church, who heard her story, that had been the ones to deliver the presents.

This incident had a major impact on my life.  It is the major driving force behind Santa’s Helpers Foundation.  Our goal is to create a ripple effect in the community that will spread joy and kindness to everyone."
